Levels and Experience (XP)

The player's level (Experience Level) is the number in the top left corner of the screen, visible to other players on the world map as well. It increases with collected experience points (XP), and each advancement grants you rubies and unlocks new buildings, decorations, events, or entire kingdoms. Main levels range from 1 to 70, followed by legendary levels up to 950.

How leveling works

The system is straightforward: each subsequent level requires 60 XP more than the previous one. Level 1 costs 30 XP, level 2 an additional 90 XP, level 3 another 150 XP — and the final step from 69 to 70 costs 4170 XP. In total, you need 147,000 XP to reach level 70.

  • For each advancement, you receive 60 rubies, and for reaching level 70, you get 180 rubies directly.
  • This also unlocks buildings and their higher levels, decorations, events, and access to new kingdoms.
  • There are also attack waves: the second wave at level 13, the third at 26, and the fourth at 52.

Sources of Experience

XP flows into the game from several directions:

  • Building and upgrading buildings — the main and most reliable source; each completed building grants XP based on its difficulty.
  • Combat — attacks on the castles of marauding barons and other NPC targets on the map grant XP for each victory.
  • Quests and achievements — the quest line especially helps you progress quickly at lower levels.
  • Events — a number of event rewards include XP points, and from level 6, the Willow of Experience also helps.

Tips for Quick Leveling

  • Never leave a building slot idle — the queue of buildings should run nonstop, even if it's just for a cheap upgrade of a decoration or economic building.
  • Daily defeat marauding barons in your vicinity — they respawn and provide free XP and resources.
  • Complete the quest line — it will practically lead you up to level 20 on its own.
  • Utilize events with XP rewards and save XP points for moments when you need to reach a specific milestone (like level 20 for Empire War or 50 for Master Blacksmith).

Legendary Levels (70+)

The cap on levels has historically shifted: in November 2011, it was at level 39, in May 2012 at 60, and on April 3, 2013, it stabilized at 70. On November 18, 2014, legendary levels were added, which continued to expand: to 550 (June 18, 2015), to 800 (July 16, 2015), and to 950 (July 29, 2021).

Level 70 (legendary 1) is the ticket to the endgame: it opens Hall of Legends, Kingdom Leagues, Outer Realms and the ability to store and send resources (iron ore, charcoal, olive oil, and glass) between kingdoms. From that point on, your progress is no longer measured by buildings but by legendary rankings and events.

Pro player tipKeep the building queue active and save XP from events for hitting key milestones — especially level 20 (Empire War and trade for parts), 50 (Master Blacksmith), and 70 (legendary content). The journey to 70 costs a total of 147,000 XP, so every wasted building slot counts.
Common mistakeRushing to level up faster than your army and economy. The level is publicly visible on the map, and the difficulty of event opponents (like foreign lords in Empire War) scales with it — a high level with a weak castle means tough targets and easy prey for others.
