Castle Events (Wolves, Bandits, Refugees)
From time to time, a small event will appear at your main castle: wolves are troubling the peasants, bandits are trying their luck, refugees are asking for shelter, or lumberjacks are arguing with stonemasons. These are small random mini-events with simple choices and minor rewards. Here is an overview of all four and how to maximize each one.
What are Minor Castle Events
Minor Castle Events appear randomly at the main castle. The game will ask you a simple question with two options — one costs something and brings something, the other is usually 'leave it' with no consequences. Neither choice has a long-term impact on your account; they are just small coins and resources on the side. Still, it pays to know which choice is worth it when.
Wolves Outside the Castle (Wolf Attack)
The screen announces 'Wolves outside the castle!' — a pack of wolves is frightening the peasants, and the steward asks what to do about it.
- Chase away the wolves: it costs you nothing, but you also get nothing.
- Kill the wolves: requires a certain number of soldiers in the castle, but you will not lose any of them — a few may get scratched, but they do not need to go to the military hospital. The reward is approximately double the number of deployed soldiers in coins.
Soldiers must be physically in the castle; their attack and defense strength is ignored, only the number counts. In other words: if you have soldiers at home, the second option is free coins.
Bandit Attack
If you haven't attacked a marauding baron for a while, the marauding barons will retaliate and send a raid on your main castle. It's nothing serious — with good defense (occupied walls and gate), you will only lose 1 to 3 soldiers. It's more of a reminder from the game that marauding barons in the area are waiting to be plundered. Regularly farming barons keeps these raids at bay.
Refugees
Every once in a while, refugees arrive at the castle and ask for temporary shelter.
- Accept them: you will pay a bit of wood and stone, in exchange you will receive extra coins.
- Turn them away: it costs you nothing and you gain nothing.
Whether the exchange is worth it depends on what you have in abundance — in the late game, when wood and stone are overflowing, it's an easy gain; in the early game, when you are building, resources may be more valuable than coins.
Worker Dispute
Lumberjacks and stonemasons argue about who is better, and you must arbitrate. The selected group will show up and start working — you will receive an immediate bonus of wood or stone depending on whom you sided with. The other group will leave offended, but without any penalty. The choice is purely about which resource you currently lack in storage.
