Glossary
Ran into an abbreviation in the chat or in your alliance that you do not know? Here are the terms and slang Goodgame Empire players use every day. Type in the search box and the list filters as you go.
Resources and economy
- Wood
- The basic resource from the woodcutter. You need it for almost every building and upgrade.
- Stone
- The second basic resource, from the quarry, used for buildings and walls.
- Food
- Produced by the farm. Every unit in your army eats it continuously, and once you drop below zero your soldiers starve.
- Coins
- The currency for recruiting units and trading. Houses produce it and you collect it through taxes.
- Rubies
- The premium currency. It speeds up construction, heals elite units and buys packages. Spend it carefully.
- Charcoal, oil, glass, iron ore
- Advanced resources for buildings and upgrades at higher levels.
- Public order
- The mood in your castle. Higher public order means higher production. Taxes and military buildings lower it, decorations raise it.
- Storehouse
- Sets how many resources fit in your castle and how much of them is protected from being looted.
Combat and defense
- Melee
- Units that fight up close (spearman, swordsman, halberdier).
- Ranged
- Units that attack from a distance (archer, crossbowman, longbowman).
- Offensive versus defensive unit
- Offensive units have high attack and low defense, defensive units the other way round. Never mix them up, a defensive unit sent on an attack is useless.
- Veteran and elite
- Stronger versions of the basic units, unlocked by research in the Research Tower.
- Wave
- An attack runs in waves, units take turns in the front and back lines.
- Flank
- The left and right side of the walls. The attacker picks which flank and courtyard to hit, the defender has to cover both.
- Courtyard
- The inner defense of the castle once the walls are breached. The last line.
- Gate and walls
- Rams lower the gate defense, ladders and towers attack the walls. Defensive tools make both stronger.
- Scout
- Comes from the tavern. Send a scout before you attack and find out what defends the target, attacking blind is a gamble.
- Might
- The overall score of a player from buildings, units and equipment. A rough measure of size.
Map and targets
- Robber baron
- NPC castles on the map (they burn once you take them). You attack them for resources, experience and a chance at rubies.
- Outpost
- A secondary castle you occupy for resource production and to expand your territory.
- Kingdom
- The Great Empire and the other maps (Everwinter Glacier, Burning Sands, Fire Peaks, Storm Islands), each with its own resources and rules.
- Resource village
- A village on the map that sends you regular resource deliveries.
Alliance
- Alliance
- A group of players. It gives bonuses, protection, shared wars and above all an active community.
- NAP
- A non-aggression pact between two alliances.
- Alliance donations
- You contribute resources to the alliance in exchange for alliance currency and bonuses.
- Alliance war
- A declared conflict between alliances with points for attacks and defenses.
Other
- Commander
- Leads an army and gives it bonuses (attack, defense, speed). Without a commander you do not attack efficiently.
- Castellan
- A manager assigned to a castle or outpost who gives passive bonuses.
- Equipment
- Items for commanders and barons, armor, weapon, helmet and artifact. They come in rarities and form sets.
- Set
- A group of equipment pieces, wearing several pieces of one set gives an extra bonus.
- Hall of Legends
- An advanced system with its own buildings, units and equipment.
- Event
- A temporary event (Nomads, Samurai, Berimond and others) with its own currency and rewards.
