Relicus and Relic Equipment
Relicus is a military building that you receive at the first legendary level, and it can only be built at the main castle in the Great Empire. It does one thing, but it's crucial: it enchants relic equipment - each successful enchantment adds +0.1% to all stats of the item, up to a maximum of 50 levels, which means +5%. Additionally, it provides a significant public order boost (+500 to +750) and a bonus of shards when selling relics. Relic equipment itself is the strongest category of equipment in the game, and you cannot compete in the rankings of legendary players without it.
What Relicus can do and what it costs
It works similarly to Technikus: you select a relic item, pay shards of relics plus coins (standard enchantment) or rubies (premium), and with decreasing success chances, you increase the level of enchantment. The building itself has 25 levels - each adds +1% to the value of shards when selling relic equipment (max +25%) and +10 public order. Once built, Relicus cannot be demolished, but it can be stored in the Relic Military District.
| Level | Upgrade Cost | Time | Shard Bonus When Selling | Public Order |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5,000 of each kingdom resource | 36 h | +1 % | +500 |
| 5 | 80,000 of each kingdom resource | 36 h | +5 % | +540 |
| 10 | 80,000 + 80,000 resources, 29 building tokens | 96 h | +10 % | +590 |
| 15 | 80,000 + 80,000 resources, 262 upgrade tokens | 156 h | +15 % | +640 |
| 20 | 80,000 + 80,000 resources, 46 building tokens | 276 h | +20 % | +690 |
| 25 | 80,000 + 80,000 resources, 526 upgrade tokens | 597 h | +25 % | +750 |
The total cost for all 25 levels amounts to 1,275,000 charcoal, 635,000 olive oil, 715,000 glass, 1,195,000 iron ore, 417 building tokens, and 3,150 upgrade tokens.
Chances and costs of enchanting
Each level of enchantment adds +0.1% to each stat of the item. The success chance starts at 100% and drops to just 12% at level 50 - failure means the material is lost. Both standard and premium enchantments consume the same amount of shards, differing only in coins vs. rubies:
| Level | Success Chance | Relic Shards | Coins (Standard) | Rubies (Premium) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 100 % | 331 | 100,000 | - |
| 5 | 80 % | 397 | 192,854 | 719 |
| 10 | 64 % | 480 | 414,140 | 1,544 |
| 20 | 44 % | 645 | 1,319,402 | 4,919 |
| 30 | 32 % | 811 | 2,128,076 | 10,594 |
| 40 | 22 % | 976 | 2,524,794 | 18,569 |
| 50 | 12 % | 1,142 | 3,169,353 | 28,844 |
The total for all 50 levels of one item is 36,825 shards and about 81.7 million coins - and this does not account for failures, which are prevalent at high levels. Achieving a full +5% is therefore a project that takes months.
Where to get Relic Equipment
Relics are blue pieces of equipment that can only be combined with each other and cannot be melted down in the blacksmith. Sources:
- Alliance Blacksmith - 60,000 coins for a piece of quality 1-3 stars, or 10,000 rubies for premium; the price increases by 50% after each purchase. Requires level 70.
- Events - nomads, samurais, glory, Berimond: gifts and points in events unlock relic rewards.
- Master Blacksmith - for gold coins.
- Wheel of Unimaginable Wealth and mystery boxes - chance for pieces with 4 main bonuses.
- Outer Kingdoms - the top 7,000 players receive a relic gem and a hero with 4 bonuses; the better the placement, the more you get.
Pieces by slot: weapon Courage (Courage, unit strength 82-87%), helmet Pride (Pride, wall 112-117% + march speed), armor Trust (Trust, gate 112-117% and moat 72-77%), artifact Desire (Desire, looting 12-17%) and gems with random bonuses.
Quality by stars and attributes
Each stat on a relic has a rating of 1-7 stars: 1-3 blue (standard), 4-6 silver (premium), 7 gold. Depending on the combination of stars, the piece receives an attribute:
| Attribute | Star Combination (version with 3 bonuses) |
|---|---|
| Tainted | all 3 stats at 1 star |
| Timeworn | combination of 1 and 2 stars |
| Battle-scarred | at least one stat 3+ stars, the rest weak |
| Regular | all 3 stats at 2 stars |
| Pure | 2 stats at 2 stars + 1 stat 3+ stars |
| Superior | 2 stats 3+ stars |
| Divine | all 3 stats 3+ stars |
Since June 2022, there are also pieces with 4 main bonuses - they are generally stronger and have their own (similar) attribute table. It is worth hunting for Superior and Divine pieces; everything below Pure is material for sale.
Relic Heroes and Gems
Relic Heroes bear the name Immortal and provide 5-6 effects, all positive. Commander heroes are focused on specific targets - nomads, samurais, glory invasions, Berimond, or castle lords - and additionally provide effects for units and tools (strength of specific units, loot capacity, in the 2nd generation also +1 wave, -15% wait time after victory). Castellan heroes, besides defensive bonuses, provide economic effects: up to +300% recruitment speed, +10,000 public order, +75% building and research speed, +200 hospital capacity, +2,400 base production.
Relic Gems do not have a fixed main bonus - all 3 to 4 stats are random and often tied to the type of target (NPCs, castle lords, or both). The second generation of gems is significantly stronger than the first. Removing a gem from an item costs relic shards.
Relic Shards are obtained by selling unnecessary relics - the higher the quality, the more you get; the bonus from Relicus adds up to +25%.
Bonus caps where more does not count
The summed bonuses from the entire set have hard caps - anything above the limit is lost in battle. The most important values (apply to pieces with 4 bonuses):
| Bonus | Commander (Attack) | Castellan (Defense) |
|---|---|---|
| Unit strength for melee/ranged during attack | +140% | +140% (in defense) |
| Wall/gate protection | -160% (reduction) | +160% |
| Moat protection | -120% (reduction) | +120% |
| Courtyard strength | +100% | +100% |
| Unit limit on wings/on the wall | +50% | +50% |
| Loot/resource protection | +50% looted | -50% lost |
| Army march speed | +100% | - |
Additionally, there are separate caps for gem and hero bonuses against specific targets (e.g., -60% wall and gate protection against nomads, +120% glory from glory invasions). When assembling a set, always check if the bonus still fits under the cap - excess is a wasted slot.
