Tree trunk ladder – Goodgame Empire

Tree trunk ladder

Offensive

A cheap and effective way to reduce wall protection at nomad camps, but only as a supplement to a proper attack wave.

Quick overview

TypeOffensive

The tribal ladder is your specialized siege tool exclusively for nomad camps. It reduces the level of wall protection, allowing your attack to inflict much more damage with the same number of troops. By itself, it does not destroy anything, but it significantly makes nomads an easier target. Without some kind of siege tool against a well-protected camp, you are just wasting units.

How to use it

Use it purely on nomad camps; you won't get it into your lineup anywhere else. Place it in the attack wave where the high wall protection of the defender is holding you back. It acts as ground preparation for your units, so it makes sense mainly against stronger camps where your troops alone cannot sustain the losses. Save it for weaker targets that you can breach anyway.

What to combine it with

It belongs to the attacking units, not in place of them. Fill the rest of the lineup with attacking troops and add the tribal ladder to reduce the defensive bonus from the walls. Lead the entire wave with a commander focused on attack; this will add their attack bonus to the effect of the ladder, and the wave will pass much more smoothly. A few extra ladders further push the protection down, but keep in mind that each additional one will reduce it by a bit less.

Pro player tipWatch the ratio of the number of ladders to the size of the attack wave. Throwing in more than their effect on protection can realistically utilize is wasted production, as the effect of additional pieces decreases. Just enough to bring down the wall protection to a level where your troops can pass with reasonable losses, dedicate the rest of the slots to units.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to bring it to classic player castles or other targets where it does not work. It is strictly tied to nomad camps and will be of no use elsewhere, just taking up space in the lineup. Another classic is sending it alone without enough attacking units and expecting a miracle; it only reduces protection, the troops must do the conquering.
