Heavy Battering Ram has one job: to significantly weaken the gate defense of your enemies so your troops don't have to chew through such a hard shell. The gate is usually the toughest piece of defense, and this is the tool that will soften it up. Unlike the regular Battering Ram from the Siege Workshop, you don't craft this one—it's an elite tool you collect from events and shops for tokens or rubies. It's not flashy, but against a well-defended target you practically can't do without it.
How to use it
The battering ram targets the gate, so it only makes sense where you're actually attacking through the front. The attack splits into a front section (through the gate) and side sections (over the walls), and the battering ram belongs exclusively to the front. It's completely useless on the sides—you're just wasting a slot that should go to a wall tool. It pays off on castles and targets where you know the defender has stacked troops and defensive tools at the gate. The more the defender is sitting on the gate, the more units the battering ram saves you, because it significantly reduces what your attackers have to break through. Before you deploy it, scout to see how well the gate is protected, and choose how many pieces to put in your composition based on that.
What to combine it with
You build it into the front section together with attacking units and tools that boost attacker strength, like the War Horn for close combat. Against ranged defenders, add a Shield Wall to it, and put wall tools on the side sections, like the Mobile Tower, so each layer of the target's defense gets its counter. Don't just symbolically throw one battering ram at a well-defended gate, but use enough of them, otherwise the effect spreads thin and the attack will cost you way too many troops.
