Premium Graveguard Potion – Goodgame Empire

Premium Graveguard Potion

Offensive

A narrowly specialized insurance against zombification at the Lady of Decay - a nice addition for this one battle, wasted slot anywhere else.

Quick overview

TypeOffensive

The Premium Potion of the Grave Guardians is a highly specialized tool aimed at a single target: the Lady of Decay, the raid boss. Outside of this battle, it is useless to you, but it addresses one of the most annoying mechanics when facing the Lady of Decay. When you attack her, some of your fallen soldiers will turn into zombie units after the battle, which then complicates your life. This potion mitigates that transformation, so fewer of your units will become zombies. Player-wise: it is not a wow tool that will win you the battle by itself, but it saves resources and nerves during runs against decay. I see it as insurance, not as a main weapon.

How to use it

You deploy it exclusively in your attacking setup when going against the Lady of Decay. It makes sense mainly when you expect to suffer some losses (and with this boss, you will almost always suffer losses), because the potion works specifically with those fallen units. If you hypothetically go through without losses, there is nothing to reduce, and you have practically wasted a slot. It is crucial to have it in your setup for the battle where the transformation will actually occur - its effect applies to that specific attack, not to the entire raid retroactively. Therefore, do not consider it as a one-time insurance at the beginning, but have it in your setup where you expect the most significant losses.

What to combine it with

It belongs to a dedicated anti-decay setup along with standard attacking siege tools depending on the type of gate and walls you encounter. By itself, it will not win the battle, so consider it a supplement to your main siege tools (battering rams, ladders, bridges depending on the layout) and strong attacking soldiers. It pairs excellently with anything that reduces your overall losses - the fewer soldiers that fall, the fewer can potentially transform, and the potion will then trim the rest. It works best in conjunction with defensive bonuses and healing, not as a replacement for them.

Pro player tipSave it specifically for attacks against the Lady of Decay and do not waste it elsewhere. An experienced player will use it in the battle where they expect the highest losses because that is where its effect has the greatest impact - more fallen means more potential zombies to trim. And watch out for the word "mildly" in the description: do not expect it to completely erase zombies, just that there will be fewer. Plan your run so that you can manage without it, and consider the potion as a bonus that will ease the situation, not as a guarantee that you will avoid zombies.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to stick it in the setup everywhere as if it were a universal attacking tool. Outside of the Lady of Decay, it does absolutely nothing and just takes up a valuable slot that could have a real attacking bonus. The second classic mistake is expecting a miracle: players are surprised that zombies still appear after the battle. The potion only mitigates the transformation, it does not turn it off. And the third mistake is not having it in the setup precisely in the attack where you will suffer the most significant losses - where it would actually be most effective, you then lack it.
