Invader's footbridge

Offensive

A specialized opener for the Converter Attack that is only worthwhile against defenders relying on moat protection; otherwise, leave it at home.

Quick overview

TypeOffensive

The Siege Ladder is a siege tool that reduces the protection of the opponent's moat. It works exclusively during the Converter Attack, so do not confuse it with regular ladders and battering rams used in standard battles. By itself, it does not increase the attack, but it breaks one of the defender's advantages and opens a path to the wall where a protected moat would otherwise slow you down unnecessarily.

How to use it

Use it only in the Converter Attack; you won't use it anywhere else. Before you set off, check what the defender is using for protection. If they rely on high moat protection and tools associated with it, the ladder will reduce it, and your other units and tools will then have significantly better conditions. Without it, you would be attacking against a fully protected moat and wasting soldiers where you could have made it easier.

What to combine it with

The ladder alone is not enough; it is a supporting piece in a broader siege setup. Combine it with tools that increase the attack strength over the wall and with troops tailored to the specific type of defense. It acts as an opener that prepares the ground for your main attacking tools. Keep in mind that its job ends at the moat; the rest of your expedition must carry out the actual battle.

Pro player tipBefore you deploy the ladder, make sure the target has a moat worth using it on. Against a defender who does not rely on moat protection, it is almost useless, and that same slot would serve you better with tools that directly add attack value. Save the ladders for targets where they will actually open up the defense for you, not for every blind attack.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to bring the ladder into regular attacks outside of the Converter Attack, where it does not work at all. And do not rely on it as your main attacking tool; it only reduces the moat's defense, and the rest of your army and attacking tools must win the actual battle. When you deploy it at the right moment and in the right setup, it will do exactly the one thing you brought it for.
