How to use it

Deploy it where you know the defender is positioned for ranged defense. Before you attack, check what the fortress is defending with - if they are relying on ranged units and defense, the shield will reduce that strength, and your units will get through much easier. And keep it exclusively for storm fortresses; you simply won't be able to use it elsewhere. Think of it as a specialized piece of equipment, not something you carry all the time.

What to combine it with

This tool weakens defenders at a distance, so it helps your attack get through regardless of whether you're pushing close or far away. It makes sense to pair it with other tools that reduce defense or boost attack so that you can focus fully on the breached wall and direct the entire effect in one direction. The key is to have enough strength behind the shield to finish off that weakened defense - the shield alone won't capture the fortress for you, it just opens the door.

Common mistakeThe most common mistake is trying to use it outside of storm fortresses - it simply doesn't work, it's limited to them, and those who don't pay attention will be unnecessarily surprised. Another classic is to throw it into the lineup automatically without checking what the defender is relying on. If the target isn't investing in ranged defense, the shield will just take up a slot and won't make any real difference.
