The Ram is a pure siege specialist for samurai encampments - its sole purpose is to significantly reduce the gate's defense level. Don't expect any miracles against regular castles or foreign empires; it's useless there. But when you attack samurai encampments, it's exactly the tool that will open the doors so your main army doesn't bleed unnecessarily on the gate's defense. Players see it as the "key" to tougher samurai targets - it's hardly worth attacking encampments with a strong gate without it.
How to use it
Deploy it exclusively in attacks on samurai encampments - check the target type, as it will get blocked or yield nothing elsewhere. Its job is clear: it removes the protection from the gate, allowing your infantry and cavalry to pass through with much lower losses. Include it in the formation alongside attacking units, not instead of them - it does not capture gates on its own, it only unlocks them. It is most beneficial where regular attacks break on high gate defenses.
What to combine it with
It belongs to a full siege setup against samurai targets, ideally alongside ladders or other tools to reduce wall defenses - the Ram deals with the gate, while others handle the walls, so they do not compete and cover different parts of the defense. Supplement it with strong attacking units and a suitable attacking commander. It works best as part of a larger assault, not as a solo tool - it won't win the attack by itself, but it significantly reduces the cost of victory in units.
