Breaching tower – Goodgame Empire

Breaching tower

Offensive

A mandatory piece of equipment for every attack on walls, but only in the right dosage and always accompanied by other siege tools and strong attacking units.

Quick overview

TypeOffensive

The mobile tower is your battering ram against enemy walls. It is one of the siege tools, and its job is clear: it significantly reduces the wall protection of the defender, allowing your army to take less damage from the walls and reach the hand-to-hand combat stage more easily. By itself, it does not add attack power or destroy anything, but it turns a well-defended castle into a soft target. Players see it as a fundamental building block of every attack on a fortified position, not as an extra.

How to use it

Always deploy it when attacking a target with walls, that is, on player castles and fortified locations where the defender benefits from solid walls. The stronger the fortifications and the more defensive tools the opponent has on the walls, the more sense the tower makes, as it can silence this layer of defense. It belongs in the offensive slot along with the units leading the attack on the walls. It is a wasted tool against bare targets without walls, where there is nothing to reduce.

What to combine it with

It does not play solo. Keep it in a composition that pushes against the walls, and complement it with other siege tools that take down additional defensive parameters, plus units with high wall attack. The key is to align it with a commander or bonus that boosts the attack on the walls, and add a tool against defensive towers and castle gates to the mix. The tower opens the door, but your attacking units and supporting bonuses must finish off the defender.

Pro player tipBefore a major attack, check how strong the fortifications are and how many defensive tools the target actually has on the walls, and decide how many mobile towers you need accordingly. Adjust the number of towers and siege tools to the specific defense you are breaking through, and only then fill the remaining slots with units. Better to have a couple of extra towers than an attack that breaks on the walls.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to throw the tower everywhere, even at targets without proper walls, where it has nothing to reduce, unnecessarily robbing slots of attacking units. Another classic is to rely solely on it and forget about tools against towers and gates, so the attack may break through the walls but gets stuck on the rest of the defense. And don’t overdo it the other way either; stacking only towers without enough attackers won't capture the castle either.
