The Bamboo Ladder specializes in one single task - reducing the defense of walls at storm fortresses. It is not a universal tool that you would take on every campaign. It is purely a siege tool that significantly lowers the level of protection of the opponent's walls, so your army does not take as much damage from stone walls. And beware of the main limitation: it only works against storm fortresses. You won't affect ordinary castles, outer bastions, or targets in the Scorching Desert or the Snowy Plains with it. If you regularly attack storm targets, it is a discreet but effective piece that you want to have on hand.

How to use it

Always deploy it when you plan to attack a storm fortress and know that the opponent has well-reinforced walls. It makes sense mainly when the wall defense is costing you more units than is healthy - the ladder will lower that protection, allowing your attacking force to penetrate better and reduce losses. Include it in your attack formation along with your army before sending the wave. If you only attack occasionally and target regular objectives, feel free to leave it in your inventory and bring it out when it’s time for a storm target.

What to combine it with

It belongs to a purely offensive siege formation against storm targets. Combine it with other siege tools that address different parameters of defense - while the ladder reduces the level of wall protection, other machines will help you with the courtyard and overall defense strength. Pair it with the appropriate type of army for storm environments and a commander focused on attack and siege to maximize its effectiveness. On its own, it won't win the attack - it is a supporting piece of the puzzle, not the main weapon.

Pro player tipBefore you send the wave, check the defense of the target - if the opponent does not have particularly reinforced walls, the effect of the ladder is lost and you are wasting a slot. It makes the most sense against well-fortified storm fortresses, where that wall protection really hurts. And always keep a supply on hand so you are not surprised by an empty inventory when preparing a series of attacks.

Common mistakeThe most common mistake is that a player loads it into the formation and sets off for an ordinary castle or target in another world - and then wonders why it does nothing. The ladder takes up a slot, but its effect only works at a storm fortress, nowhere else. The second classic mistake: relying solely on it and underestimating the rest of the formation. The ladder will open doors at the walls, but you must secure the victory with your army and the remaining tools.
