The Mint is your second source of coins alongside taxes from houses. Instead of gold trickling in continuously, here you accumulate a batch of gold regularly, which you can collect with a single click. It takes up a decent amount of space in your castle, occupying five by five tiles, so you build it with the intention of wanting more gold, not just to fill a corner. And most importantly: it rewards activity. The more often you log in and collect it, the more you will get from it.
When to build it
Don't rush to build it right at the start. First, get your defense, barracks, and houses for regular income and population in order. Only address the Mint when your castle is stable and you want to boost your gold. Those five by five tiles will take up space that could otherwise be used for something more urgent, so it's not a building for the beginning. If you log into the game multiple times a day, it makes sense to prioritize it earlier, as you can collect the batch often and the investment will pay off. If you log in only occasionally, feel free to wait on it.
Is it worth upgrading?
Here it's simple: the building has only one level, so there are no upgrade solutions. Whatever you build, that's what you have. The whole decision is just about whether you will sacrifice those twenty-five tiles for gold from the Mint. No upgrades will bring you anything here, so all the value lies in how often you collect from the building.
