Glassworks are purely an economic support building that increases the production of all glass furnaces in your castle. It does not produce glass by itself, so it only makes sense when you already have some furnaces in your castle and want to squeeze more out of them. Glass is a resource that most players need mainly for research, decorations, and advanced upgrades, so Glassworks are more of a supplement than a driving force in the economy. The size of 6×9 is a decent chunk of space on a narrow castle plot, so keep that in mind when planning.
When to build it
This is not a building you reach for first. First, build the glass furnaces themselves and get the basic production of wood, stone, and food going to have a stable economy. Glassworks make sense only when you start to actually run out of glass and are either buying it or waiting for it. If you are not using glass much yet, feel free to postpone the construction and dedicate the space in your castle to more useful production or storage buildings.
Is it worth upgrading?
Upgrading makes sense only in proportion to how many glass furnaces you actually have in your castle. The percentage bonus is calculated from the total production, so with one or two furnaces, higher levels will only bring you a few extra pieces, and the investment returns slowly. However, if you are fully utilizing glass and have more furnaces, it pays off to gradually upgrade the Glassworks to higher levels, as each level then multiplies across all furnaces. Jump straight to a higher level especially when you have full production and surplus resources for upgrades.
