Flour mill – Goodgame Empire

Flour mill

Economic

A cheap production multiplier that pays off when you already have something to multiply - a great investment in a developed castle, but just a waste of space at the beginning.

Quick overview

CategoryEconomic
Max level8
Size6×9
PriorityMedium priority

The Mill itself does not produce anything - it is purely a supportive economic building that increases the productivity of all farms and granaries in the castle. You build one, and each of your farms will start yielding more resources without needing to add more production buildings. It works on a percentage basis, so think of it as a multiplier: the more farms you have running, the more you will extract from one Mill. It is one of the cheapest ways to get more from the same area, but it only makes sense where you already have something to multiply.

When to build it

Do not build it as your first building - until you have a few farms and granaries in operation, there is nothing to boost. The right moment comes when you have production running well and you start looking for ways to get more resources, but you are running out of building space. At that point, the Mill will extract from what is already built, instead of you having to add more farms. Keep in mind that with dimensions of 6×9, it takes up a significant chunk of the castle - think about its position and incorporate it into your layout before you start building it.

Is it worth upgrading?

It is worth upgrading, but not forcefully. Upgrade the first levels early - they are cheap and return immediately. Save the path to the maximum level 8 for a later stage when your production is at its peak and each level realistically increases a large number. And before you send the Mill to a higher level, consider whether another farm might give you more right now - sometimes it is cheaper to add production than to multiply it.

Pro player tipPlan the Mill and farms as one economic block. It pays off to concentrate farms and granaries in the castle where the Mill stands, instead of spreading them across multiple locations - you will then get the maximum from one Mill. Keep production buildings together and place the Mill in the middle so that its percentages affect as many resources as possible.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to wait for the Mill to "produce" resources - it only boosts what the farms produce. With one or two farms, the bonus in absolute numbers is small, and that large area of 6×9 is not worth it. Another classic mistake is to cram it between residential buildings and then realize that you have no space for new farms that it would actually multiply.
