Wedge shield – Goodgame Empire

Wedge shield

A specialized defensive shield that is only valuable against the undead - equip it in an anti-zombie setup, and where there are no undead, don't count on it.

Quick overview

The Wedge Shield is a purely anti-zombie piece - a strong shield with iron fittings that you equip exclusively in battles against the undead. Outside of undead events, it is useless to you, so consider it specialized equipment, not universal gear. Within its category, however, it is a solid defensive tool worth having when the undead season comes - the iron fittings place it among the tougher shields that will keep more of your soldiers alive.

How to use it

You equip it the moment you are attacking or defending against the undead and need to increase the defense value of your units. The iron fittings make it a stronger variant among shields, so place it where you expect tougher resistance and want to keep as many of your own soldiers alive as possible. The key is to remember to activate it in your setup before launching the attack - once the attack starts, you won't be able to add it to the ongoing battle; tools are set up in advance.

What to combine it with

It belongs to a purely anti-zombie setup along with offensive tools against the undead and commanders who enhance attack or defense depending on whether you are pushing out or holding your position. I won't give you specific names - assemble it from what you have prepared for the undead. It fits best with a defense-oriented campaign where you want to minimize losses: complement the shield with additional defensive bonuses so that the wave of undead doesn't consume more soldiers than necessary.

Pro player tipHave the Wedge Shield and the entire anti-zombie equipment stored in a separate setup even before the undead event starts. If you try to hunt for it and assemble the setup in a rush after it begins, you will unnecessarily lose valuable rounds. Experienced players have their anti-undead setup prepared firmly and just summon it in a live battle, so they don't waste time clicking.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is trying to use it in regular PvP or against normal targets - it doesn't work at all there, as it is limited exclusively to the undead. The second classic mistake is throwing it into an offensive setup where you are pushed by attack value; the shield gives you defense, so it won't help you much in a purely offensive campaign where speed and damage are key. If you are just going to crush, leave it aside.
