Poison arrows – Goodgame Empire

Poison arrows

A useful ranged buff, but only for nomad camps and ranged setups. Don't bring it into battle elsewhere.

Quick overview

Poisoned arrows increase the combat strength of ranged units, which are units that attack from a distance. The catch is that they only work in nomad camps, so it's not a universal trick for every battle. If you are playing nomads and building around ranged units, it's a solid helper that will help you break through defenses with fewer losses. If you are not dealing with nomads, they are just sitting uselessly in your storage.

How to use it

Deploy them in a setup built around ranged units when you want to add more strength to the ranged part of the attack and bypass defenses that would otherwise bring you down. Before attacking, make sure you have enough ranged units so that the added strength actually reflects in the results. A few ranged units in an otherwise melee setup won't gain much from the bonus.

What to combine it with

They belong to ranged attacking units and other nomadic buffs to attack strength. They fit perfectly into a purely ranged setup. Combine them with tools and officers that further increase the attack value, so you can get the most strength from a single raid. Do not mix them into a melee-focused setup, as they are dead weight there.

Pro player tipKeep a supply specifically for nomad rounds. Plan their usage based on how many nomad waves you want to play, so you don't run out in the middle of the event when they are most valuable. Save them for those camps where they will actually save you units.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to cram them into an attack outside of nomad camps, thinking they will add strength everywhere. They won't, the limitation to nomads is strict. Another classic is pouring them into a setup full of melee units, where the bonus to ranged attack is useless because the melee units do the main work.
