Ballast stone – Goodgame Empire

Ballast stone

A timing tool that helps you tune when your army arrives at the target, useful mainly for coordinating an attack with an alliance, but only when precise timing really matters.

Quick overview

The Weight Stone is a tool that does not target the opponent, but rather your own movement. Its sole purpose is to slow down the movement of your army to the target location, so you will not be destroying walls or soldiers with it, but rather fine-tuning the timing of when your troops arrive somewhere. By itself, it conquers nothing, but when you need your army not to arrive too early, it is exactly what you are looking for. Players see it as purely a timing card, not something to be used in every attack.

How to use it

Reach for it when you need your army to arrive later than it would on its own. Typically when you are coordinating a joint strike with your alliance and want your troops to hit the target at the same time as your allies, not earlier. It is also useful when you want to synchronize several of your own attacks from different distant castles so that they arrive at the same time. It is a tool for players who play for precise timing, not for arriving as quickly as possible.

What to combine it with

By itself, it is more of a supplement, so consider it as part of a broader attack coordination, not as the core of your setup. It works best in conjunction with a coordinated alliance action, where it matters that all armies arrive at the right moment. It also makes sense in combination with regular offensive tools and troops, as they deal with what you strike with, while the Weight Stone only addresses when it will hit. If precise timing of movement does not matter to you, it does not make sense in your setup.

Pro player tipThe value lies in coordination, not in the slowdown itself. Use it only when you are clear about the specific time you want to tune your movement to, ideally according to an agreement with your alliance or based on your other armies. Slowing down your own troops just like that, without a plan, what will that delay bring you, will not yield anything by itself.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is confusing it with a defensive tool against the opponent. It does not slow down an enemy attack heading towards you, but your own movement, so if you expect it to defend you, you are mistaken. The second mistake is to throw it on a movement where timing does not matter at all; it will only unnecessarily delay your own army without gaining anything in return.
