Cultists
Cultists are enemy units that you encounter in the towers of the Fire Peaks and occasionally during raids. They cannot be recruited into your own army, so you mainly know them as defenders that you must break through.
Two Types of Cultists
- Cultist Bowman is a versatile ranged unit. It has the same stats as other non-recruitable universal archers outside the Great Empire, namely the Northern Archer, Stone Crusher, and Desert Bowman.
- Cultist Fanatic is a versatile melee combat unit. It shares stats with the Northern Axeman, Shark Tooth Warrior, and Desert Warrior.
The term "versatile" means that the unit functions in both attack and defense and does not have significantly skewed values in one direction.
Where to Encounter Them
Cultists sit inside cultist towers in the Fire Peaks. However, they also appear in groups during a raid attempt, so you will encounter them even if you are not currently clearing towers. Fanatics hold the front line, while bowmen shoot from the back ranks.
How to Attack Them
- A combination of melee and ranged combat means you need balanced waves, not purely archers.
- Always send a spy first and read the exact layout of defenders and tools in each wing.
- Tools that reduce protection help against fanatics, while siege equipment that dampens ranged defense is useful against bowmen.
History
Both types of cultists were added to the game at the same time. They were announced on May 11, 2012, and the official launch came on May 14, 2012, at 7:30 AM. Thus, they are among the oldest enemy units in the game.
