Siege workshop – Goodgame Empire

Siege workshop

Military

Indispensable for attackers on foreign castles, unnecessary burden for calm economy builders.

Quick overview

CategoryMilitary
Max level4
Size8×10
PriorityOptional

The Siege Workshop is your gateway to conquering foreign castles. Here you produce siege weapons, without which you cannot make a dent against a well-fortified opponent. It does not provide any economic benefits on its own and does not protect your castle; it is purely an offensive building for players who want to go after foreign walls and not just hold positions at home. If you are drawn to active PvP and expansion, it is indispensable. If you prefer to play calmly and build a resource base, it can wait.

When to build it

Build it only when you are actually starting to attack players or stronger targets where a regular army is not enough. At the very beginning, when you are focusing on your resource base and defense, it is not a priority and would just take up space. It occupies a decent 8×10 tiles, so do not place it in your castle until you have a reason to use it actively. The logic is simple: first economy and defense, then siege machines.

Is it worth upgrading?

Upgrading is only worthwhile when you are actually using the workshop and want more efficient production of siege weapons. If you attack regularly, upgrade it to higher levels gradually as your need for machines grows. The maximum level is 4, but it is not necessary to chase after it immediately. A passive player who attacks only sporadically can be fine with a lower level and would rather invest money and time elsewhere.

Pro player tipPrepare siege machines in advance, not just right before the attack, as their production takes time. When planning a larger campaign or a series of attacks, stock up on tools ahead of time so you can attack smoothly and not wait for the workshop. And always assemble machines according to the defense of the specific target; blindly sending everything in one pile is wasteful.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to build it out of obligation right away because it is a military building, and then leave it idle for months taking up space in the castle. The opposite extreme is equally painful: a player wants to conquer foreign castles and wonders why their attacks lack impact, while they do not even have a siege workshop and only send soldiers into battle without machines. Siege weapons make a huge difference against fortifications.
