The Training Ground is a military building from which you can summon auxiliary troops - temporary units that can help you out when you need to quickly bolster your defense or replenish your attack and you don't have enough of your own soldiers. It is not a building that wins battles on its own, but as a backup source of units on demand, it has its place. Think of it as insurance, not as the main pillar of your army.

When to build it

You don't need to rush with it. In the early stages, you have more important things - economic buildings, storage, barracks, and walls. The Training Ground makes sense to build only when you have a functioning economy and you start to rely more on military actions where auxiliary troops are useful as a supplement. Until larger battles start to pressure you, you can wait.

Is it worth upgrading?

Upgrade it based on how much you actually use auxiliary troops. If you only take them occasionally, a lower level is more than enough, and you should invest resources into barracks and defense instead. If you regularly work with auxiliary troops, you will appreciate the gradual increase in level - a higher level expands what and how many you can summon. However, pushing it to the maximum right away doesn't make sense; go gradually according to your needs.

Pro player tipKeep the Training Ground in reserve for situations when you know an attack is coming, or when you are preparing an offensive and your own soldiers are not enough. Plan your summons in advance so that you have the troops ready when you need them - summoning them at the last minute during an attack is risky. And don't forget that it takes up a significant amount of space (5×10), so account for it in your castle layout.

Common mistakeThe most common mistake is building and upgrading the Training Ground before you even establish a proper army and economy. Auxiliary troops are a supplement, not a replacement for your own soldiers from the barracks. Another classic mistake is counting on auxiliary troops as a permanent force - they are temporary, so don't build a long-term strategy around them.
