Longbow ox – Goodgame Empire

Longbow ox

Offensive Ranged Special

An NPC defender of Thorn King camps with strong defense of 125 against ranged and weak 51 against melee. You cannot recruit him and you will not find him in shops, but when you know where he stands, send a melee attack at him and the camp falls with smaller losses than with ranged units.

The Longbow ox is an NPC ranged unit that you cannot recruit. You meet him as a defender of enemy camps in the Thorn King event kingdom. The data gives him ranged attack 92, defense 125 against ranged and 51 against melee. Price, food upkeep and speed are all zero, because you never own him, for you he is an opponent.

How to use it

When attacking Thorn King camps, his defensive numbers decide, because he stands on the defender's side. Against ranged he holds 125, against melee only 51, so where Longbow oxen stand, send mainly melee attacking units. Before you set out, scout the camp with a spy and see on which side there are the most of them, that is where a melee wave makes the most sense. Leave your ranged units for the sides where the defense against them comes out weaker.

What to combine it with

Against camps where Longbow oxen predominate, strong melee attacking units fit, from the Barracks for example the Knight of the Elite Guard with attack 140, from Halloween events the Bone rattler with 185. Against 51 melee such a wave gets through much more easily than ranged units against 125. Add attack tools for the walls and gate and a commander with attack bonuses. If the camp is also defended by melee units, split the wave according to espionage so that each type attacks where the defense is lower.

Weaknesses and what to avoid

Do not send a purely ranged wave against him, defense 125 against ranged needlessly holds it back, while against melee he has only 51. Do not look for him in shops or offers, he is an NPC unit and cannot be recruited. And do not confuse him with the Longbowman from the Barracks, that is your defensive ranged unit with the same defense 125 against ranged, but with attack of only 20 and 56 against melee.

Pro player tipOther NPC ranged units have the same numbers 92, 125 and 51 too, for example the Kraken head or the Sail ripper, so what you learn against Longbow oxen applies elsewhere. The rule is simple, where many of these ranged units stand, lead with a melee attack and send your ranged units elsewhere. Whoever remembers this saves themselves needless losses.
Common mistakeA common mistake is taking him as your own unit and planning castle defense with him, but you will never have him. The second is sending mainly ranged units at his camp and wondering about the losses, against ranged he holds 125, against melee only 51. And the third is worrying about his attack 92, in the camp he stands as a defender, so for your plan mainly his defense matters.
