Fire witch – Goodgame Empire

Fire witch

Offensive Ranged Special

A strong attacking ranged unit from Halloween events, which with attack 162 beats all the attacking ranged units from the Barracks. Her defense is not enough for the walls, so keep her on offense, ideally with the Bone rattler at her side.

The Fire witch is an attacking ranged unit. Her ranged attack is 162, more than any attacking ranged unit from the Barracks (the strongest, the Spear woman, has 138), so in the ranged part of an attack wave she does serious work. Her defense is weak on the other hand, 15 against melee and 24 against ranged, and on the walls the first wave would sweep her away. You get her as a reward from Halloween events, from the Halloween Banquet, or for spooky tokens. In attack, defense, price and food upkeep she matches the Deathly horror, so when putting together an army you can treat them as the same unit. She is reinforcement for attack, not a defender.

How to use it

Deploy her as the ranged part of an attack wave against castles and camps where the defender has weaker defense against ranged. Attack 162 is the base level 1 value, commander and attack tool bonuses are only added to it. Before an attack, check with a spy how the target is defended and send the witches to the side where the defender holds the least against ranged units. Upkeep of 5 food is one more than for the Spear woman or the Crossbowman of the Elite Guard, so with larger numbers your farms will notice. Her speed 28 is the same as the Bone rattler from the same event, so they arrive together. The price of 400 is higher, so save her for attacks where the strength of the wave matters and do not waste her on small raids.

What to combine it with

She works best next to a strong melee attacking unit. The direct partner is the Bone rattler from the same Halloween event, melee attack 185, the same price of 400, food 5 and speed 28. Based on espionage, you split the wave so that each side gets the type against which the defender has lower defense, witches where defense against ranged is weak, Bone rattlers where melee defense is weak. Add attack tools so the fire does not fizzle out on well reinforced walls, and a commander with attack bonuses. A purely ranged wave breaks against defenders with high defense against ranged, so mix it.

Weaknesses and what to avoid

Do not put her in castle defense, 15 against melee and 24 against ranged are weak numbers for a defender and at 400 it would be an expensive filler. For comparison, the Skeletal hunter from the same event has 153 against ranged. Do not send her at targets where espionage shows high defense against ranged either, her attack evaporates there. And a weakly defended camp you can finish with cheaper units from the Barracks.

Pro player tipWhen espionage shows that the defender has weaker defense against ranged on one side than against melee, send the witches exactly there and shift the melee units to the other side, choosing the right side is the whole trick. Loot of 40 per unit is a pleasant bonus, but the attack is what matters.
Common mistakeThe biggest blunder is reading her 24 defense against ranged as strong and putting her on the walls, where she just dies. The second mistake is sending a purely ranged wave without melee units, a defender with high defense against ranged will cut it to pieces. And the third is leaving a lot of them standing at home unused, while the upkeep of 5 food keeps running.
