Royal Tokens and Chests
The term royal tokens refers to two different things that players can easily confuse. The Castle Passage Token is an active currency that allows you to copy your main castle to the Outer Realms. The Royal token chest, on the other hand, is a long-removed item associated with alliances. This page clearly distinguishes between the two.
Castle Passage Token - what it is for
The Castle Passage Token is a special currency that you use before entering the Outer Realms event. It allows you to copy your main castle from The Great Empire to the Outer Realms.
This way, you enter the event with a castle that is already well developed, instead of starting from scratch. This is a significant advantage, but it mainly makes sense if you are a high-level player with a well-built main castle. A weaker castle won't benefit much from the copy.
How to obtain the token
You can either buy the Castle Passage Token or win it:
- Purchase for 10 million coins.
- Reward at the end of the Kingdom's League, if you place high enough in the rankings.
So it is a currency available even without rubies, as you can either save coins for it or fight for a good placement in the League.
When it is worth using
The token is worth spending only when you can gain a real advantage from the copy of the castle:
- You are a high-level player with strong production, walls, and buildings.
- Your main castle is well developed, so its copy in the Outer Realms will be significantly better than the starting castle.
If you are still growing and your main castle is not yet fully developed, spending 10 million coins for a copy of a weaker castle is not the best investment, and it is better to save them for development.
Royal token chest - removed item
Be careful not to confuse them. The Royal token chest was a completely different thing than the Castle Passage Token. It was an item that could be purchased for rubies and only at the Armorer.
It existed in regular, premium, and golden variants (Royal token chest, Premium royal token chest, Golden royal token chest). It was removed along with the cancellation of alliance cities, so you can no longer buy it today. If you come across it in older guides, consider it only as history, as it is no longer relevant to active gameplay.
How to avoid confusion
A quick summary of the difference to clarify:
- Castle Passage Token = active currency, purchased for 10 million coins or as a reward from the Kingdom's League, copies a castle to the Outer Realms.
- Royal token chest = removed ruby item from the Armorer, associated with alliance cities, no longer available today.
The key word is function: the token gives you advantageous entry into the event, while the chest was just a now non-existent item.
