Mead

Mead is one of the main resources in the game, very similar in principle to food. It keeps your sovereign units alive - each sovereign soldier consumes mead, and when it runs out, the soldiers die.

What mead is used for

The main purpose of mead is to feed sovereign armies. Each such soldier needs mead to survive and takes it from the storage. If your mead production is higher than the total consumption of all sovereign units in the castle, mead accumulates until the storage is full - this is called net production per hour. When the armies consume more than the castle produces, the number is negative and your mead decreases. Once the castle runs out, the sovereign soldiers die.

How to produce mead

• Mead is produced by the Relic Brewery, which unlocks in the Hall of Legends at legendary level 45 using Sceats.
• It can also be obtained as a package from the Master Blacksmith (for sceat) or from the Wandering Merchant, but the price in rubies is often inflated, so it is not recommended.
• Mead production is increased by the Relic Barrel Workshop.

Relation to food

Mead unlocks alongside Honey and behaves similarly to food. Therefore, it pays off to look for food outposts, ideally those that can support 8 food buildings at 100% capacity - you will produce the maximum amount of food, and thus more mead. Adding items for public order increases the overall productivity of the castle, which also boosts food and mead production.

Reducing consumption (Mead Distillery)

In addition to increasing production, you can reduce consumption. This is done with the Relic Mead Distillery, which decreases the consumption of sovereign units - thanks to it, you can maintain a much larger army. It unlocks through the research of the Nordic Spirit in the Hall of Legends and requires the Relic Brewery and 60 Sceats.
