Stables – Goodgame Empire

Stables

Stables won't strengthen your army, but they will speed it up, and for an active player, they save hours of waiting on every campaign.

Quick overview

Max level3
Size5×5
PriorityMedium priority

Stables unlock horses for you, allowing your army to move significantly faster across the map. It may sound like a cosmetic feature, but when you regularly attack, send support to allies, or gather resources from the surroundings, it's one of the things you'll notice the most. Waiting for your army to crawl to its destination can be quite frustrating, and this large 5×5 building will cut that down for you. I personally consider it one of those things that players underestimate at first and then can't understand how they played without it.

When to build it

It's not a building for the early rounds of the game. First, build your economy, barracks, and defense so you have something to feed and attack with. Stables make sense when you start actively fighting on the map or helping your alliance, because until then, the speed of your army doesn't matter much. Feel free to wait for them until you have space and free resources, and build them as a quality upgrade, not as a basic necessity.

Is it worth upgrading?

It's worth it. Each of the maximum three levels adds additional movement speed, so if you're actually doing something on the map, keep them upgraded as high as possible. The first level removes the biggest delay, while the second and third are finer adjustments, but they add up over longer distances and with frequent activity. If you're more of a passive builder and not sending your army anywhere, you can wait with the upgrades and allocate resources elsewhere.

Pro player tipA faster army means not only shorter waiting times but also more moves in the same amount of time. When attacking distant targets or frequently responding to alerts in your alliance, speed determines whether you can send support in time. Plan campaigns against distant players with the consideration that upgraded Stables will shorten your arrival time. And remember, this isn't the only source of speed in the game, so save Stables mainly for situations where every minute counts. On a large map, it's the difference between active and comfortable gameplay.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is building Stables too early and expecting miracles from them, or confusing them with bonuses to attack or defense. They do not increase the strength of the army or the number of units, only the speed of movement. Another classic mistake is to build level 1 and leave it that way, even if you're fighting on the map daily. Underestimating speed costs you a lot of wasted time on every campaign.
