Construction crane

A building without immediate bonuses, but it frees up construction and accelerates the pace of castle development. Upgrading to max is almost mandatory.

The construction crane does not provide any resources or defense; its only function is purely practical: it allows you to queue another building for construction that you otherwise couldn't start. By itself, it's boring, but at the moment when your resources are flowing and you want to advance quickly with your castle, it's exactly the thing that frees up your hands. Don't expect any immediate bonuses; this is an investment in the pace of development.

When to build it

Build it when you have construction in full swing at your castle and you start to encounter the need to wait for space to free up for another building. If you are just starting out and have few resources, you won't be able to supply more buildings anyway, so you don't need to rush to build it in the first few minutes. However, once your resources are accumulating faster than you can build, the crane is one of the first things worth investing space and capacity into.

Is it worth upgrading?

If you build the crane, upgrade it to the second (maximum) level. There's no point in leaving it at the first level and holding yourself back; consider the second level practically mandatory as soon as you have the resources for it. A higher level will extract the maximum benefit from the building, so don't delay with it unnecessarily.

Pro player tipThe crane is most beneficial when you are mass upgrading defensive and production buildings before an attack or during an event when you need to get as much done as possible. A clever trick is to start a long construction overnight or while at work and alongside it, short quick upgrades, so your castle isn't idle for even a minute. And when considering space, build the crane more towards the edge where it doesn't interfere with your defensive setup.

Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to build the crane and then not use it properly because you don't have enough resources to support another building, leaving your capacity idle. The opposite extreme is to ignore it for too long and hold yourself back for hours, even though you could be advancing rapidly. And don't forget that it occupies a 3×3 space, so it will take up a significant amount of room; plan for it when arranging your castle layout.
