Aquamarine hideout – Goodgame Empire

Aquamarine hideout

Defensive

A silent guardian of your aquamarines that makes sense when you have something to protect and when you are actually being raided.

Max level10
Size5×5
PriorityMedium priority

The Aquamarine Hideout is a defensive building that keeps a portion of your collected aquamarines safe from enemies. When someone attacks your castle and breaks through your defenses, this will save at least some of the supplies that would otherwise end up in a foreign chest. The hideout does not fight or produce on its own; it simply keeps the resource safe. Aquamarines are mainly useful for upgrading and decorating, so having them protected is worthwhile.

When to build it

Consider it when aquamarines start flowing in for real and when you are no longer an invisible mouse on the map that no one is raiding. As long as you have just a few pieces in storage and your neighbors leave you alone, there is no rush. However, once you start receiving regular attacks and see that you are losing resources, it is time. Defending an empty hideout makes no sense, but defending a growing stockpile does.

Is it worth upgrading?

A higher level means you protect a larger portion of aquamarines, so investing in levels goes hand in hand with how much resource you are actually storing and how much you are losing. If you are regularly losing aquamarines, higher levels will pay off. If you only have a few pieces in storage, pushing the hideout to maximum level is a waste of materials and time. Upgrade gradually based on how your stockpile grows and how strong the opponents attacking your castle are.

Pro player tipThink of the hideout as part of a whole, not as a standalone solution. Combine it with a solid defense on the walls to prevent attacks from getting through at all, and keep the hideout as a safety net in case someone stronger breaks through. And consider the size of 5×5 when planning your castle layout; it takes up a decent space, so place it where it won't hinder the development of production buildings.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to build the hideout to maximum right when you have almost no aquamarines. You are defending zero and taking up space and resources that could be used elsewhere. The second mistake is to rely solely on the hideout and neglect walls and defensive units. The hideout only saves a portion of the stockpile; the rest will be taken if the attack goes through. It is a safety net, not a replacement for real defense.
