Veteran Demonic Snarl is the veteran version of Demonic Snarl and the game describes it as an extremely powerful close-range attacker. Attack 200 versus 185 on the basic version makes it one of the hardest melee units you can get outside the Barracks. You get it from special offers and seasonal events, you won't find it in the Barracks or Research Tower. Defense 21 against melee and 6 against ranged is just a supplement and doesn't fit in castle garrison.
How to use it
Deploy it in attacking melee against targets where the defender built on ranged and has weak close-range defense, the game description says it directly - ideal for fighting ranged defenders. Attack 200 is measured against the target's defense against melee and the lower this value is for the defender, the more of your attack gets through. Speed 30 is 2 better than the basic Snarl, but it's still not a fast unit, plan your entire army's march accordingly. Loot 45 per unit versus 35 on the basic version means on a successful attack it will also carry away something extra.
What to combine it with
Add attacking ranged units to the same army - Veteran Death Scream with Attack 175 is a natural partner because the defender chooses how to split their defense between melee and ranged on each flank themselves and you need to cover both. Battering Rams and Ladders are mandatory, fortifications chip away at the attack before it even clashes with defenders. In the game there's a bonus Demonic Terror Strength that increases the strength of Veteran Demonic Snarls and Veteran Death Screams, so if you have it active, send both units together.
Weaknesses and what to avoid
Never build it for defense. Defense 6 against ranged is one of the lowest values you'll see in the game and 21 against melee won't save it - an attacker will shred it on the walls without losses. Don't send it to targets with melee defense either, where the defender has high defense against close-range, there won't be much attack left. And don't waste it on weak camps where regular melee from the Barracks is enough - losing a unit from an event is harder to replace than losing a Swordsman.
