The Outlaw Cave Fighter is a purely offensive infantry unit with 216 attack, so you send him forward to break through defenders rather than hold the line at home. Five stars for attack suit him well - attack value is everything that matters here. His defense is poor (49 in melee, 24 against ranged), so don't expect him to survive if you leave him sitting in a garrison. He is an offensive specialist, not a jack-of-all-trades.
How to use it
In practice, deploy him in an offensive wave against castles and camps where you want to squeeze as much attack per slot as possible. He is among the infantry with higher attack, so when attacking targets defended by melee units, place him on the side of the formation where you expect close combat. The food consumption of 8 is higher, but for that attack, you will gladly pay. If you are a new player, consider him a sword ace in the front line - the main job is to get him against defenders who also fight in melee.
What to combine it with
Combine him with offensive archers or musketeers who will cover the other half of the formation - he only handles close combat, so he needs a partner for ranged. He fully unleashes under a strong offensive tool and a general with a bonus to infantry attack, where that 216 is further multiplied. Experienced players mix him with battering rams and siege towers into large offensive waves against enemy castles, causing walls and defenders to fall at the same time.
Weaknesses and what to avoid
Do not place him in defense - with a defense of 49 and 24, he will burn down before you know it, and you will waste stars. He is also not suitable against a superior number of ranged units, where they will take him down before he even gets to close combat, and his 24 defense against ranged is tragic. And don't send him to weak farming and minor targets where cheap infantry from barracks will suffice - a waste of an event unit that is hard to replace.
