Glacial Amazon Warrior – Goodgame Empire

Glacial Amazon Warrior

Offensive Melee Special

A strong close combat infantry unit with an attack of 390, zero food consumption, and above-average speed. In its role (attacking defenders in close combat), it is one of the better choices for an offensive wave, and it doesn't consume any food at all. It is not a universal unit: it is useless in defense and suffers against ranged units. Treat it as a valuable event reinforcement that you deploy specifically where enemy infantry stands, supported by a commander and tools.

The Ice Amazon Warrior is a purely offensive melee infantry unit, recognizable by two numbers: attack 390 and food consumption 0. The first makes it a tough attacker against defenders in close combat, while the second is a nice bonus for an event unit. Defense, on the other hand, is poor (49 against melee, 18 against ranged), so never place it on the walls. It is an event unit, not from regular barracks, so consider it a reinforcement for offensive waves, not as an army to fill your entire force.

How to use it

You deploy it in an offensive wave aimed at close defenders, that is, against swordsmen and pikemen at the gate or on the walls. Send it to the flank where the enemy infantry stands, not under towers with ranged units. Speed 34 is above average for infantry (regular barracks infantry crawls around 18 to 24), so it is not a slow unit as it might seem. This has practical implications when mixing in the wave: it will arrive earlier than slow infantry, and if you combine it with snail-like troops, part of your attack will break apart and come in pieces. Therefore, keep it together with similarly fast attackers.

What to combine it with

Pair it with offensive ranged units that will shoot at defenders while the Amazons cut down the close infantry. Depending on the target, add ladders (for the wall) or a battering ram (for the gate) and don't forget to fill the offensive tools on the flank where the Amazons are positioned. The biggest difference will be made by a commander with an offensive bonus: even 50 or 100 percent extra attack will elevate this unit from good to devastating, so make sure your best offensive commander covers the flank where you are sending the Amazons.

Weaknesses and what to avoid

Do not place it in the castle defense. With a defense of 49 and 18, it will hold nothing on the walls, and high attack is useless in defense. Another thing to watch out for: do not send it against a heavily ranged defended target without your own ranged cover. Alone against densely occupied towers, it will suffer unnecessary losses because its ranged defense of 18 is poor. And do not consider it a striker against ranged units; it is a bad unit for that, excelling exclusively against defenders in close combat.

Pro player tipPlan your waves according to speed. Since the Amazons fly at 34, place them in a wave with other fast attackers and keep slow infantry in a different wave, so your attack arrives compactly and overwhelms the defender at once, not in pieces. The second tip concerns food: zero consumption means that this unit costs you no supplies at all, so you can keep it in the army even when regular infantry would exceed your food limit, and you can pour the saved supplies into another army.
Common mistakeThe most common mistake is to shove it into defense just because it has a high attack number; this will not help you in defense at all. The second mistake is mixing it with slow barracks infantry in the same wave; due to the speed difference, your attack will arrive in two waves, and the defender will have time to regenerate between them. The third mistake is treating it as a permanent mass replacement for swords from the barracks. It is an event unit, usually in limited numbers and without the possibility of regular replenishment, so manage it as a rare reinforcement, not as an endless source of infantry.
