The Shark Tooth Warrior is a defensive melee tank with 135 defense against infantry and an attack of 109. The profile of 135 melee / 45 against ranged should not be seen as a flaw of the unit; it is a completely standard distribution for a defensive tank, as every melee defense from the barracks looks similar. What distinguishes it from regular barracks infantry is its zero food consumption and the fact that you cannot obtain it through standard production; it is a special unit from special offers or events, so count on it only to the extent that you gather it.
How to use it
In practice, you place it in defensive positions of the castle where you expect enemy infantry (swords, axes, battering rams). 135 defense against melee is a decent value, and what is even more pleasing is that the defense has 4 out of 5 stars on the ladder, so it has a high ceiling when you upgrade it. It holds up well against regular melee defense from the barracks; the 135 alone gives you a comparable or better wall than most available tanks, and you don't have to feed it. If you have a solid barracks melee defense in production, do not replace it with the shark tooth unit piece for piece, but supplement it with crews and the main castle, where every soldier without food consumption is useful.
What to combine it with
Alone against ranged units, it does not hold up; 45 defense is too low, but this is the price of every melee tank, not a specific flaw of this unit. The solution is simple: always mix melee and anti-ranged defenders in the same position. A proven ratio is about half and half, depending on what the enemy is actually attacking with; sometimes a third of anti-ranged is enough when you know the opponent is mainly deploying infantry. Add a good defensive tool against infantry (cauldrons, pots) and a defensive commander with bonuses to defense, and you have a position covered from both sides.
Weaknesses and what to avoid
Do not send it into attack; it is a defensive unit and will just die unnecessarily in offensive waves instead of holding the wall. Secondly, never place it as the sole defender in a position where archers are coming after you; with 45 defense against ranged, they will take it down before it can do anything. And since you cannot produce it regularly, it is a limited piece from events and offers, do not use it as the backbone of an army that you spend on every little thing.
