Complete Rift Raid tactics for all three bosses
The Rift Raid is an alliance event added in November 2025 in which the whole alliance storms a boss fortress. The boss comes in three variants: Mycelial Sovereign (easy), Mistress of Decay (medium) and Ashen Tyrant (hard), each with 20 levels. Below you will find the mechanics of boss health, walls and reserves, the activity point multipliers, the reward threshold table and tactics for each individual boss.
How the boss uses reserves, the courtyard, and the health bar
Boss health corresponds directly to its reserves — the pool of troops it uses to resupply the courtyard. Every time the courtyard is cleared, the reserves drop and the health bar drops with them.
An example straight from the game mechanics: the boss has a courtyard of 100 troops and a reserve of 900. Once the courtyard is cleared it is resupplied from the reserve, which falls to 800 and health drops to 90 %. Hence the first rule: only courtyard attacks damage the boss. Hitting walls is necessary preparation, but on its own it does not remove a single percent.
The health bar is split into segments — health stages. At every transition into a new stage the boss gains or changes special effects. Read the current set in the Boss Effects panel on the left, ideally before every push.
Breaching, passage, and regeneration of walls
Wall health is also represented by defending troops, with one difference: wall troops regenerate and are not taken from the reserves. The wall renews itself indefinitely, so destroying it never lowers boss health.
A destroyed segment is breached and attacks pass straight through into the courtyard — until the cooldown expires, after which the wall returns with fresh defenders. On Mycelial Sovereign it regenerates 5 minutes after the breach. That is the entire window the alliance gets.
The Rift Raid is therefore mostly about timing. Wall status is shown in the panel at the bottom right. The routine: players with siege tools breach the wall at an agreed time, everyone else has courtyard attacks pre-loaded and sends them the moment the breach opens. An attack that lands after regeneration simply breaks against a new wall.
Spores and the final stage of Mycelial Sovereign (easy)
The easiest variant is built around fungi and spores. Fungal walls regenerate quickly; the regeneration cooldown on all flanks after a breach is extended by support tools from the event point rewards:
| Tool | Cooldown extension | Obtained for |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze Sporeguard Chrono-Vial | +30 seconds | 5 pieces at 600 points |
| Silver Sporeguard Chrono-Vial | +90 seconds | 5 pieces at 6,000 points |
The second mechanic: every wall regeneration spawns spores. Once the final stage begins, the dormant forms transform depending on how many of them sit in the reserve:
| Dormant form | Transforms into |
|---|---|
| Dormant Spore Maw | Spore Gnasher |
| Dormant Spore Cyst | Cyst-born Sporecaster |
The transformed units are stronger than the regular defenders (Spore Slinger and Fungus Guard). The tactic is therefore obvious: kill as many dormant spores as possible before entering the final stage. Rush the finale with a full reserve and you fight a defence you grew yourself.
What we know about the higher difficulties, Mistress of Decay and Ashen Tyrant
Mistress of Decay (medium) runs on the same foundation — walls, courtyard, reserves, stage effects — the effects are simply far more aggressive than on Mycelial Sovereign. Check the set in the Boss Effects panel; it changes with every health segment.
Ashen Tyrant (hard) is built on extreme defensive strength of troops in waves. The game gives you two counter-tools assigned to a specific attack wave:
| Tool | Target in the assigned wave | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze Obsidian Weighted Net | enemy melee units | -50 % defensive strength |
| Silver Obsidian Weighted Net | enemy melee units | -250 % defensive strength |
| Bronze Obsidian Siege Shield | enemy ranged units | -50 % defensive strength |
| Silver Obsidian Siege Shield | enemy ranged units | -250 % defensive strength |
Against Ashen Tyrant plan attacks with the full number of waves and split the tools so that every wave covers both melee and ranged. Save the silver -250 % versions for the courtyard and the final stages.
The courtyard gives 10x more activity points than the wall
You earn activity points based on the proportion of troops your attack destroyed in the target area. Each area has its own multiplier:
| Area | Point multiplier |
|---|---|
| Wall | x 100 |
| Courtyard | x 1000 |
Points are counted individually and threshold rewards unlock immediately on reaching them. Defeating the boss (on any of the 20 levels) additionally grants a Boss Defeat Reward, but only if you meet the eligibility threshold — so even a weaker player has to send their own attacks, ideally into the courtyard with its thousandfold multiplier.
Which activity reward thresholds to aim for
There are 71 reward thresholds, from 200 up to 4,400,000 points. Key milestones for the Mycelial Sovereign variant:
| Points | Reward |
|---|---|
| 200 | 170 Raid ladder (-60 % wall protection) and 60 Raid ram (-60 % gate protection) |
| 600 | Sundial of the cunning lvl 3 (+3 waves, +30 % unit limit when attacking, 8 days) and 5 Bronze Sporeguard Chrono-Vial |
| 2,000 | 900 Raid ladder (-80 %) and 300 Raid ram (-80 %) |
| 6,000 | 2 Pirates siege workshop lvl 4 (+60 % ranged strength when attacking, 4 days) and 5 Silver Sporeguard Chrono-Vial |
| 7,500 | 100 Rift Coin and 50 Upgrade token |
| 48,000 | 60 Silver Obsidian Weighted Net and 60 Silver Obsidian Siege Shield (-250 % against Ashen Tyrant) |
| 95,000 | Pirates drillground lvl 1 (+35 % flank unit limit, 4 days) and 25 Plaster |
| 190,000 | Pirates sawmill lvl 4 (+80 % front unit limit, 4 days) and 25 Plaster |
| 320,000 | 20 Ashira's Offering for Ulrich and 30x 150,000 generals XP |
| 600,000 | 4 Small dragon chest and 1,000 Sceat |
| 1,000,000 | 1 Big dragon chest |
Low thresholds hand out siege tools for the event itself, the middle band pays Rift Coins plus Upgrade and Construction tokens, and the high thresholds reward generals' offerings and dragon chests. The boss defeat reward gives, depending on level 1 to 20, Rare Bronze/Silver/Gold Rift Boxes, thousands of level 10 Shield-maidens and Valkyrie rangers, and up to 12,000 Rift Coins per level.
Rift Coins and Rift Boxes are two kinds of chest
The Rift Coin is the event currency for purchases at the Master Blacksmith. There is a crucial difference between the boxes:
| Box source | What it gives | Equipment |
|---|---|---|
| Rift Box from the shop (for Rift Coins at the Master Blacksmith) | equipment and a hero, no gems | randomly for any of the three boss variants |
| Rift Box from the boss defeat reward | equipment sets | exclusively for the currently active boss variant |
If you want to build a set against a specific boss, push for Boss Defeat Rewards while that variant is running. With shop boxes, expect part of the equipment to roll for variants you are not playing.
