Mercenary Post – Missions, Prices and Rewards
The Mercenary Post (formerly called the Mission Post) is a building where you spend coins on bundles of three rewards. The offer refreshes every 6 hours, eight missions are free, and the priciest bundle costs 100,000 coins. Here's a rundown of the mission types, run times, and the actual prices for a level 70 castle.
How the Mercenary Post Works
Each mission is a bundle of three items. You pay in coins, the mission then runs for a set amount of time, and once it's done the rewards land in your castle. Missions use the same color coding as equipment, and you can spot the free missions by their yellow background.
The offer refreshes every 6 hours — the cycle starts and ends at 4:00, 10:00, 16:00 and 22:00. You can reroll one mission for 240 rubies, and paying rubies will also finish an already-running mission instantly.
| Mission type | Run time | Coin price (level 70 castle) |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 10 minutes | 0 |
| Ordinary | 15 minutes | 2,120–5,955 |
| Rare | 25 minutes | 3,250–25,000 |
| Epic | 45 minutes | 5,750–50,000 |
| Legendary | 90 minutes | 15,650–100,000 |
The Mercenary Post drops tools, troops, VIP time, VIP points, random equipment, gems and resources. Equipment comes from Epic and Legendary missions, and level 3 gems only from Legendary missions.
The Eight Free Missions (0 coins, 10 minutes)
The free missions are the best value in the game since they cost absolutely nothing and finish in 10 minutes. Eight bundles rotate through this slot:
| Item 1 | Item 2 | Item 3 |
|---|---|---|
| 2× Veteran Maceman | 10 minutes of VIP time | 2× 5-minute speedup |
| 2× Veteran Crossbowman | 10 minutes of VIP time | 2× 5-minute speedup |
| 20 iron ore | 5× Scaling Ladder | 15 VIP points |
| 20 iron ore | 5× Battering ram | 15 VIP points |
| 20 iron ore | 5× Mantlet | 15 VIP points |
| 2× Flaming arrows | 1× Castle gate reinforcement | 2× Hurling rocks |
| 125 charcoal | 2× Battering ram | 5× Mantlet |
| 100 olive oil | 2× Battering ram | 10× Scaling Ladder |
Five of the eight variants give a VIP reward — two with 10 minutes of VIP time and three with 15 VIP points, adding up to 20 minutes of VIP time and 45 VIP points total, free.
Ordinary and Rare Missions
Ordinary missions cost 2,120 to 5,955 coins and most often combine food, five veteran troops and basic tools. Rare missions start at 3,250 coins and bring Royal Guard units, gems and elite tools.
| Type | Bundle contents | Coin price |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary | 3× 5-minute speedup + 3× Veteran Maceman + 5 banners | 2,120 (cheapest paid mission) |
| Ordinary | 45 VIP points + 1 hour of VIP time + 2× 10-minute speedup | 2,990 |
| Ordinary | 5 Flaming arrows + 3 Castle gate reinforcements + 5 Hurling rocks | 5,955 (priciest Ordinary mission) |
| Rare | 7× Royal Knight + 15 banners + 2× 10-minute speedup | 3,250 (cheapest Rare mission) |
| Rare | 100 VIP points + 30 minutes of VIP time + random level 2 gem | 4,300 |
| Rare | 10 Cast Iron Mantlets + 10 Iron rams + 10 Siege Towers | 20,000 |
| Rare | 5 Tar pitch kettles + 5 Bulwarks + 4 Insulating mats | 25,000 (priciest Rare mission) |
The differences between near-identical bundles can be huge: 250 food, 5 Veteran Crossbowmen and 7 Mantlets costs 4,000 coins, but the same pair with 10 Scaling Ladders instead is only 2,500.
Epic and Legendary Missions
Epic missions run for 45 minutes and cost 5,750 to 50,000 coins. Legendary missions run for 90 minutes and, in this rundown, range from 15,650 to 100,000 coins — only they give level 3 gems.
| Type | Bundle contents | Coin price |
|---|---|---|
| Epic | 10× Royal Crossbowman + 3 Iron rams + 5 Siege Towers | 5,750 (cheapest Epic mission) |
| Epic | 500 charcoal + 450 olive oil + 400 glass | 7,000 |
| Epic | Random epic equipment + 100 VIP points + 1× 1-hour speedup | 22,000 |
| Epic | 20 Cast Iron Mantlets + 15 Iron rams + 20 Siege Towers | 50,000 (priciest Epic mission) |
| Legendary | 10× Royal Sentinel + 10× Royal Scout + 7 Murder holes | 15,650 |
| Legendary | 3× 1-hour speedup + 25× Veteran Heavy Crossbowman + 25× Veteran Two-Handed Swordsman | 17,150 |
| Legendary | 5× Deathly Horror + 5× Demon Horror + random level 3 gem | 23,000 |
| Legendary | Random epic equipment + 10× Traveling Crossbowman + random level 3 gem | 39,200 |
| Legendary | 10 Portcullises + 10 Murder holes + 10 Arrow slits | 100,000 (priciest mission in the game) |
The 22,000-coin Epic mission is the cheapest way to pull a piece of epic equipment out of the Mercenary Post; the Legendary version with a level 3 gem costs 39,200 coins.
What's Worth Buying and What Isn't
The best guide is the price per individual tool — big bundles can differ by up to fivefold:
| Bundle | Number of tools | Price | Coins per item |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Cast Iron Mantlets + 10 Iron rams + 10 Siege Towers (Rare) | 30 | 20,000 | 667 |
| 20 Cast Iron Mantlets + 15 Iron rams + 20 Siege Towers (Epic) | 55 | 50,000 | 909 |
| 20 Belfries + 20 Heavy rams + 20 Shield walls (Legendary) | 60 | 100,000 | 1,667 |
| 5 Tar pitch kettles + 5 Bulwarks + 4 Insulating mats (Rare) | 14 | 25,000 | 1,786 |
| 10 Portcullises + 10 Murder holes + 10 Arrow slits (Legendary) | 30 | 100,000 | 3,333 |
It's the same with troops: the Legendary bundle of 50 veteran units for 17,150 coins works out to 343 coins per soldier. For VIP points, the cheapest option is the Rare mission with 125 VIP points, 15 minutes of VIP time and 3× 5-minute speedups for 4,300 coins, or 34 coins per point.
Feature History
The Mercenary Post is one of the oldest features in the game and its numbers have been reworked more than once:

| October 15, 2013 | Went live, rolled out between 8:30 and 11:30 |
