Hacks, Cheats and Free Rubies in Goodgame Empire

Ruby generators, resource hacks and "cheats" for Goodgame Empire show up on plenty of sites and videos. None of them work, and there's a simple technical reason for that. Here's an explanation of why it's impossible, what you risk if you try it anyway, and most importantly, an overview of the ways the game actually gives out rubies for free.

Why Ruby Generators Can't Work

Goodgame Empire is a server-side game. Your browser only displays what the Goodgame Studios server sends it — the counts of rubies, resources and troops are stored there, and the client program can't reach them. A program promising to "generate" rubies into your account would have to rewrite data on someone else's server, not in your browser. So it's not a tool that works worse or slower, it's a tool with nothing it can actually change.

Generator sites usually dangle one of three hooks — a form for your player name and password, "verify you're not a robot" through downloading an app, or a survey. The first steals your login details, the second installs a program on your computer, the third earns money from views. Rubies don't arrive in any of these cases.

What You Risk If You Try It

The game operator's terms (Stillfront Germany, formerly Goodgame Studios) explicitly forbid it. Section 4.3 states that users may not "create or use cheats, mods or hacks, or any other third-party software products that may alter the results of online or mobile games," and section 4.4 bans running the game any way other than through the browser or the provided client, which covers bots and automated scripts too. Under section 9, accounts that break the rules can be blocked or deleted.

The second risk is your account itself. When you enter your player name and password somewhere, you're handing a stranger access to your game and to the email your account is registered with. The game never asks for your password outside the login screen, and neither does this wiki.

Rubies the Game Gives Out for Free

Rubies drop as loot after defeating robber barons, barbarians and cultists of level 3 and above, you get them from quests, and from the daily Ruby Chest for being active in the game. You get a one-time 500 rubies for subscribing to the newsletter after confirming your email. More come from event rewards and alliance rewards in invasions. Hacks and ruby generators don't work, they just put your account at risk.

Power Point Milestones and the Rubies for Them

The most reliable source of free rubies is power point milestones. The game pays them out once when you reach a given number of points, and it counts the highest value you've ever reached, so you don't lose them even if your power later drops. The table is from game data version 786.03, only the milestones that pay out rubies are listed.

Where It's Worth Spending Your Rubies

Once you actually have rubies, the difference between a good purchase and a bad one is a multiple, not a percentage. Prices for everything bought with rubies are in the ruby price list, and the best-value offers are in the ruby shop bestsellers overview. What to never spend rubies on is noted separately in both articles.

Pro player tipIf you see a "ruby generator" on some site, look at what it's asking for. Player name and password means account theft, downloading a program means a program on your computer. Rubies never come from there.
Common mistakeThe most expensive mistake isn't wasted time, it's the password you entered. Your email is tied to your Goodgame Studios account, so losing your password doesn't stop at the game.
