The Colossus is a decoration you build from surplus resources
The Colossus is an unobtrusive event in which you donate resources towards building a giant statue - and the more you donate, the more public order the finished statue provides. Since the 2022 change it runs for only 3 to 4 days and usually appears towards the end of the month, so plenty of players miss it. Needlessly: the Colossus is one of the few ways to turn surplus wood and stone into a permanent decoration worth more than 2,000 public order. This article covers all three variants, the exact point maths and when donating is worth it.
How the Colossus works
During the event a statue construction site appears outside your castle. You donate resources, receive points for them, and the statue grows through three appearance levels according to the points collected. After the event ends the finished statue remains as a decoration with public order - and its value corresponds directly to how much you donated. With a little generosity you pass 2,000 public order, which competes with decorations from paid chests.
The event used to run for 7 days; since the 2022 change it runs for 3 to 4 days and usually starts towards the end of the month. Currently only wood and stone can be donated (coins in the gold variant). The sale value of a finished Colossus follows its public order, so the statue is not only a decoration but also an emergency coin reserve.
Three variants and the point maths
The event has three variants that rotate. All work identically and differ only in the donated currency and the appearance:
| Variant | Donation | Points | Construction starts at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Colossus | 500 wood or 340 stone | 10 points | 50 points (= 2,500 wood or 1,700 stone) |
| Horseman Statue | 500 wood or 340 stone | 10 points | 50 points |
| Gold Colossus | 460 coins | 5 points | 50 points (= 4,575 coins) |
A useful ratio follows from the table: stone is better value than wood (340 stone = 10 points, whereas wood needs 500). If your stone storage is overflowing, the Colossus is the best outlet in the game.
Appearances: the basic Colossus gets a sword instead of a spear and a different helmet at level 2, and at level 3 a third helmet type plus a Demon Horror axe. The Horseman Statue is silver at the second level and gold with the most detail at the third.
When and how much to donate
The Colossus is a pure exchange of surplus for public order - and public order feeds through population mood into the production of your whole realm. The rules for when it pays off:
1. Donate surplus, not working stock. The event arrives at the end of the month; if you are currently saving for wall or keep upgrades, leave the Colossus alone. A statue bought at the price of a halted construction is not a win.
2. Stone before wood. The same 10 points cost 340 stone or 500 wood - stone surplus is a third more efficient.
3. The Gold Colossus is for players with millions of coins. 460 coins for 5 points is pocket change for a developed realm, and coins are otherwise hard to convert into public order.
4. Aim at a target, do not guess. The community maintains calculators (Google spreadsheets) where you enter the desired public order and get the exact amount of wood and stone. Before a large donation, work out how far you are from the next appearance level - donating just below a threshold is wasted.
And remember: the construction site does not come back after the event. Whatever you have not donated by the end can never be added - a finished Colossus cannot be upgraded retroactively.
